BASE ADVENTURE MANAGEMENT is happy to offer the 5 Day Sabah Adventure Programme. This is a programme designed to build confidence and understanding in the individual and to foster greater understanding and bond as a team. Make no mistake this is a high adventure experience and participants will come away with a renewed sensed to confidence, freshness and would be motivated to push forwards towards both their own life and collectively in their organisation goals. 

 

Prices are from RM 900 per person, not inclusive of accommodation and airfare. Accommodation choices vary from budget hostels, budget hotels to exclusive hotels in exotic locations.

 

Day 1. Arrive in Kota Kinabalu, the capital city of Sabah and check-in to your accommodation. BAM will hold a briefing session to prepare participants for the entire trip. You would be forming your respective teams and set goals and objectives for your Outdoor Experiential Learning programme. In the late afternoon, embark on an introductory briefing on Sabah and a walking tour on the Kota Kinabalu Waterfront.  

 

Day 2. Padas River White Water Rafting (Full Day). This river is graded at III – IV and is considered extreme and perhaps the most exciting river to run on in Malaysia as has the most number of extreme rapids but is still considerably safe for beginners. This river is most suitable for adults and upper secondary students.  

 

After breakfast, embark by coach to the town of Beaufort. Here board the antique train (it is a unique ride) to Halogilat and change train for Rayoh station where we would stop to change and store clothes and items after completing your white water run. Continue to Pangi Station the start point of the whitewater run. Have some refreshments followed by safety briefing, instructions and basic training on white water rafting. After putting on your whitewater gear, namely a helmet and PFD (personal floatation device), begin your exciting 9 km run over 7 main rapids. End the run at Rayoh where a sumptuous buffet lunch awaits. Board the antique train back to Beaufort and back to your accommodation. The expected arrival time here is about 6 pm. Time after this is free at your own leisure.

Alternative programme Day 2. Kiulu River White Water Rafting (Full Day). This is a Grade II river and is more suitable for younger participants such as lower secondary or primary school groups or the elders. These rapids are gentler and is more suitable for their age group but it is still very exciting and adventurous and meets all the objectives of our outdoor experiential learning programme.  

 

The run on Kiulu is either 15 km or 7 km in length. This depends on the water level. This, however, is still a full day activity.  

 

After breakfast, proceed overland towards the village of Kiulu. Stop by at Tamparuli to store your dry clothes and items for post river activities. At Kiulu, the river guides would conduct a short training session and safety briefing. After putting on your helmet and personal flotation device (PFD), start running the river. After about 2 hours of whitewater rafting, stop by a riverside station for lunch. Continue Tamparuli, the endpoint after and change into your dry clothes before taking the coach back to your accommodation. Time after this is at your own leisure.

Day 3. This is the Island, Snorkelling and Coral Flyer Day. 

After breakfast, walk along the KK Waterfront to the boat jetty. Here, board a speedboat to the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park island. Upon arriving the island, we will conduct our first activity and that is Island Survival Challenge where you are to ‘survive’ on the island for a specific period. You would be given several items to play out this scenario. Time to snorkel (for those who know how). Lunch would be served before getting back on the boat to the Coral Flyer. This is a long flying fox between two islands. Upon completing the activity, board your respective boats and return to Kota Kinabalu and back to your accommodation.  

 

Day 4. Kinabalu Park, Poring and Mesilau. The highlights of today’s programme are the wonderful nature of the highland forest, unique tropical vegetations, scenic spots and history. 

 

After breakfast, embark overland to Kinabalu Park Headquarters. We go on several of the nature trails. On hand are guides would give us an insight into the unique flora and fauna of this cool mountain environment. Proceed to Poring and embark on waterfall trail. After, proceed to Kundasang. This is our lunch stop. Time is free to wander around the Kundasang markets that sells among other things, semi-temperate flowers. Visit the Kundasang War Memorial and learn about the Second World War. Return to Kota Kinabalu and time is free at own leisure to wander around the city. 

 

Day 5. After breakfast at own leisure until pick-up and transfer to Kota Kinabalu airport for flight out.  

White water rafting is high adrenaline.
